Embrace your inner Sherlock Holmes and become a “Photographic Scavenger Hunter” on September 7th when the AIDS Alabama South team host’s a huge scavenger hunt and gala to support their vital programs and services that benefit women, children and men in their personal battles with HIV/AIDS in Southwest Alabama.

This year’s fundraiser, “Discover Mobile: A Photographic Scavenger Hunt” will benefit AIDS Alabama South (AALS) in Mobile, AL.  AIDS Alabama South is the only AIDS Service Organization between New Orleans, Louisiana and Pensacola, Florida and north to Montgomery, Alabama. AIDS Alabama South provides essential life-sustaining services in Mobile, Escambia, Baldwin, Butler, Clarke, Choctaw, Conecuh, Wilcox, Marengo, Monroe, Covington, and Washington counties; 12,545 square miles of Southwest Alabama.

The three part series of events will begin with a scavenger hunt on September 7th at 5:30 p.m., where “individuals” and/or “teams” will follow 25 clue photos taken by local photographers that will take them on an intriguing journey through various areas in Mobile; they’ll learn new facts, explore historic places, and visit familiar and some completely mysterious areas.  All participants will meet at Mid-Towne Works located in historic downtown Mobile at 5:30 p.m., where they will purchase a keepsake clue book which shows a fragment of an image, containing 25 challenges. Books are sold for $20 each.  From there, they will be off on their adventure.  Midway through the hunt on September 21st, AIDS Alabama South will host a hint event at a Mid-Towne Works to provide an opportunity for participants and photographers to exchange hints about the clue photos.  The hint event is always a much anticipated event because of its social-networking opportunity which also provides participants with education about comprehensive HIV prevention.

Following the scavenger hunt, the fundraiser will continue at LUSH Home Garden on October 5th at 6:00 p.m., with cocktails and light Horderves.  The evening will include an announcement of the scavenger hunt winner(s), awards ceremony, music from a local band, a photography silent auction, and an opportunity for AIDS Alabama South and sponsors to be showcased.

Since this scavenger hunt takes place over an entire month, participants will have time to fully explore the most intimate nooks and crannies of Mobile’s charming town. Everyone will learn more about the history of Mobile and the effects of HIV in Mobile, all while having a great time, and contributing to the fight to end HIV/AIDS.
